Herminio Jose Lualhati Alcasid Jr. also known to many as Ogie Alcasid. Ogie Alcasid Debuted as a singer with the release of his self titled album in 1989. His album Ogie Alcasid reached gold status in 1989. And his single from his album Nandito Ako (I am Here) was the song of the year by Magic 89.9 a local radio station in the Philippines. The vinyl record was locally pressed here in the Philippines. The vinyl record was released under Octo Arts Iinternational. The Front cover for the album shows a young Ogie Alcasid sorrounded by organs. The back cover is just plain with some text on it. It shows the track list of the album and the people who had some influences in the album. The executive producer for the vinyl album was Orlando R. Ilacad. The other producers were Bob Guzman and Nonoy Tan. The songs in the vinyl album were arranged by Jimmy Antiporda, Ogie Alacsid, Gary Valenciano, and Alvin Nunez. Some musicians who helped in the album were for Guitars Josel Jimenez, Saxophone Ike Dy-Liaco. Recording engineers were Lito Balagtas, Boy Roxas, Dante San Pedro, Nards Corpuz. Some of the songs in Ogie Alcasid debut album were in English. While the other were in Filipino. Most if not all were love songs. Songs like Peksman (I Promise) and Ako’y Iyong Iyo (I am Truly Yours) were pure love songs. Sa kanya in English it means him or her. This single is one of the most popular song in the album up to know many still sings it. It basically means that the singer is longing for someone and whatever did happen between them he/she always comes back to that person. The song dito sa puso ko (Here in My Heart) means that the woman he loves will always be in his heart and whatever may happen his love will always remain. And last but not the least the most popular song in the album is Nandito Ako (I am Here) it is a song about unrequited love. The singer basically is trying to ask or convey his feelings to the woman, but he is having second thoughts because the woman is already in love with another man. He says that if in case the man leaves her he will be just here waiting for her and her love.
